Today is May 1st. Today the stores are empty, restaurants are closed, and much work is going undone, because today immigrants stand up to say, "we make this country happen."
Today I remind all of us who are Jewish, that today, we are immigrants too - and alwaטs have been. Don't forget your brothers and sisters. Remember that you too were strangers in a strange land, which took us in, and fed us and made us fabulously secure. Did we not just read: Let those who are hungry come and eat. Let those who are in need come and celebrate the Passover. This year we are slaves, next year we will be free..."
